See who works there! Sally Dryer, as a child, voiced the roles of Lucy, Violet & Patty in the Charlie Brown specials. Little did she know then just how prophetic Lucy's line "Blech. I've been kissed by a dog!" would turn out to be – it happens all the time now! On Thursdays, Sally is a veterinary technician for the Jerome Humane Society. Not only is Sally great with the animals, she's an extremely capable technician -- organized, knowledgeable & eager to learn. She's also a lot of fun, & gives great parties. Sally is also the owner of Soiled Doves Studio in Jerome, is a mixed-media sculptor, & is a master framer.

Friday, September 28th All Day
World Rabies Day
World Rabies Day is the 28th of September. It was created to both inspire activism and raise awareness of the disease.
What is Rabies? Rabies is a viral disease that infects the central nervous system of humans and animals and causes inflammation of the brain. It can be deadly to animals and humans, so it’s important for pets to be vaccinated.
In Arizona, Maricopa and Pinal County laws require dogs to be vaccinated against the rabies virus. Typically rabies is spread by other warm-blooded animals infected with the virus. Rabies is most commonly found in bats in Europe, North America, and Australia, and in dogs in Asia and Africa.
A simple vaccine from your vet will help ensure the health of you and your pet. Dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, and other domestic pets should be vaccinated.

Mission To save senior animals who are often overlooked by providing them an opportunity to thrive in a safe and caring environment.
Maricopa County has the second highest euthanasia rate in the country due to our severely overpopulated animal community. Recent census figures demonstrate that Maricopa County is in transition. For various reasons, including moving, senior pets become disposable and end up at the shelter. Placement is almost impossible for older pets. FLPS was created to make a serious and positive impact on the lives of senior animals.

Horse and Burro Program
Southwest Wildlife rescues domestic horses in need of a helping hand. Southwest Wildlife has stepped in and offered sanctuary to wild horses and burros who have had to be removed through the National Wild Horse and Burro Program. Our Horse and Burro Program also saves neglected, abused, and slaughter-bound equines by rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding new homes for them.
Some of these equines are dumped in the desert after their owners can no longer afford to care for them, others are owner turn-ins, and still others are rescued from abusive situations. Many of the horses that are dumped are old, lame, or injured with little or no possibility of being rehomed. These animals will live their lives out peacefully at Southwest Wildlife. https://www.southwestwildlife.org/conservation/horse-and-burro-program.html

Rasically Rabbit Rescue and Critter Haven of Arizona
Rascally Rabbit Rescue and Critter Haven of Arizona Mesa, Arizona
If you want to meet a certain rabbit at any of our adoption events, please email us and let us know which pet and which event so we can take him/her to that event. Feel free to take a second to get to know all our adoptables on our adoption page or through Bunspace. Adoptions and events take place across the state. https://www.facebook.com/RascallyRabbitRescue/
We rescue rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas and mice. We then provide vet care, food, shelter, love, while searching for the pet's forever home.
Note that we're looking for volunteers for fundraisers and foster homes, it would be a big help. We don't have money for a shelter, so we only use foster homes and need more homes to save more animals. More info, visit http://www.rascallyrabbitrescue.org/

Arizona Equine Rescue Organization
AERO 28150 N. Alma School Parkway 103-523 (mailing address)
Scottsdale, AZ 85266 (623) 465-1519
AERO is dedicated to providing community outreach and we've tailored many programs to reach out to a diverse population for education, awareness, and service. Some of our programs include Youth Volunteer Day, Education Workshops, and a host for other equine community service and education programs. We feel each of these programs offer a unique experience for the participants to increase their awareness of horses, as well as themselves. Most of our programs, though directly involved with horses, can be applied in many situations in our day-to-day lives whether at home, at school, at work, or in the community.Sponsor a Horse. https://www.azequinerescue.org/sponsor_a_horse.html
The need for rescue and rehab is evident. The Maricopa County Sheriff's office and the AZ Livestock Board see thousands of abuse cases each year but state laws do not allow easy seizure. And only through collaborative partnerships with law enforcement, equine health care providers, and community awareness, is AERO able to make a difference one horse and child at a time!Learn more about how you can help us make a difference!
